Adorable and interesting, I buy. Smart, probably more often than not. Emotional, I'll give it that.
"More character development ... than any movie I've seen this year?" Oh, come on. We're not exactly exploring the deepest darkest chasms of a human or robot existence.

While I enjoyed the movie, I don't know about the second part of the quote.
Besides, how many movies to "studio bigwigs" really see each year? Like 2-3?

It's not that I dislike Wall-E. It's just that the praising quotes are positively Lord of the Rings-esque in their over-the-top-ness.
I'm going to guess Wall-E is a lot better than LOTR.
