My Quantum of Solace theme song

Much of the blog world has been brimming with opinions about the title for the James Bond movie set for release in November, Quantum of Solace. One of the foremost complaints is that the phrase could not possibly fit into a theme song. I thought I would put that fiction to rest. Besides touching on the concept set out in a 1960 Ian Fleming short story, I believe I’ve touched all the important bases for a Bond theme song – mystery, romance, death, and the ever-so-subtle insinuation of sado-masochism.

You can help me work on it. You can even post your own.

When I say Quantum of Solace,
You say, “What does that mean?”
Love, and the choices betweeeeee-een-eeeen.

When love’s cold traps befall us,
You say, “How does that go?”
The price you don’t knowwwwwwwwwww.

Innnnnnn the dying embers
of love’s chilled caress.
Looking for a touch of comfort
In a world that owes you less.

A quant-um of solace
In a fire set ablaze
A quantum of solace
In a fire set ablaze

When secret worlds stall us,
You say, “What should I think?”
Serve me your poooooi-soned driiiiiiink.

When death comes to call us,
You say, “What can I do?”
In six feet, you kneeeew-ew-ewwww.

Loooooooooove comes and goes
in the small - est a - mounts.
Our lashing bodies still smoulder
But it’s the thought that really counts.

A quant-um of solace
In a fire set ablaze.
A quantum of solace
In a fire set ablaze.

How long did it take you to do that? I don't know if I can top that.

Really good- you should give mgmax credit over at HE- he posted one as well, right off the bat.

It took a couple hours probably. It helps that not a lot rhymes with solace, so your choices are pretty limited.

The funny thing is that I started it out as a total gag. Hence the first line, and its cheeky referencing to all the baffled responses the title has received. Then I got into the middle of it, and things started seeming to work out, and I started wondering if this wasn't half bad.

Mgmax's contrib:

She's got a
Quantum of solace
From Hong Kong to Dallas
She goes

He wants her
Quantum of solace
It's why he always follows
She knows

When danger comes she'll want him
But when they come to hunt him
It's she who has the quantum
He's looking for
He's aiming for
Quan-tummm of Sollllll-ace!

This came via a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend at Pinewood. Not sure if its for real, or a deliberate red-herring. Seems odd to me that the title isn't "QoS" and wot's the point of incorporating other franchise titles (QoS isn't a Bond milestone/anniversary, er, or is it?)
---------------------
"NO LICENCE TO LOVE"
---------------------
When the bond between
Two souls
Is torn apart
Your licence to love
Has expired
Then a longing fills
The void
Left by your heart
No solace in rage
Ice and fire

Is this world enough
To be your stage?
So you’ve lived twice
But thrice might be too tough
With NO LICENCE TO LOVE

(chorus)
There’s no doctor
Prepared to stop your heart
Bleeding
Erasing your feelings
Sterilising your dreams
There’s no one left
Bereft enough to believe you
Your eyes only revealing
You’re the spy who once loved
No solace from pain
Sorrow or blame
NO LICENCE TO LOVE

When the golden eyes
Of love
Reflect cold flames
Old diamonds are lost
In the dust
Another day goes by
And you keep searching
In vain
No solace for souls
Scared to trust

In this vacant room
The view can’t thrill
Then daylight dies
And you’re allowed to kill
But NO LICENCE TO LOVE

There’s no doctor
Prepared to stop your heart
Bleeding
Paralysing but leaving
A quantum of dreams
There’s no one left
Bereft enough to believe you
Your eyes only revealing
You’re the spy who once loved
No solace or ease
Only horrors and thieves
NO LICENCE TO LOVE

(bridge)
Share cold comfort
In casinos and bars
(NO LICENCE TO LOVE)
Pseudo solace
From the babes and the cars
(NO LICENCE TO LOVE)

There’s no doctor
Prepared to stop your heart
Bleeding
Erasing your feelings
Sterilising your dreams
There’s no one left
Bereft enough to believe you
Your eyes only revealing
You’re the spy who once loved
No solace or sleep
Only secrets to keep
NO LICENCE TO LOVE
(No solace in sight)
NO LICENCE TO LOVE
(No solace tonight)
NO LICENCE TO LOVE
(For you and I)
NO LICENCE TO LOVE
