Three years ago, she was on top of the world, winning the Oscar for Walk the Line. Since then, she's been in Rendition, a meh political melodrama, and I don't remember anything else.
Looking at IMDb, she did have the little-seen Penelope. She has a Cameron Crowe film and something with Vince Vaughn at different stages of development. Still, you would expect more.
It's not just that she won the Oscar. She won the Oscar while being the biggest female star. To drop out of the picture like she has is amazing.
Due to a recent Federal Trade Commission decision, I think it best to reveal that, yes, I receive free admission to most of the films that I review. This is the standard practice among film reviewers, and it does not affect my opinion. Unless noted otherwise, you should assume that I received free admission. I have never been on a junket and I do not plan to start. Although in the future, it is possible that I might decide to start interviewing actors, directors, etc.

Definitely a victim of the Oscar Curse.
Sad, too, because I liked her back when she was churning out some (mostly) pleasant comedies, and she proved surprisingly strong as June Carter Cash.
